Cisco displaying watercolors Saturday
Watercolor artist Terry Cisco presents a public display of prints and originals from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Innovations Hair Salon and West Side Wines at Kopiko Plaza in Kailua-Kona. Landscapes of the Kona Coast dating from the early 1980s and recent original watercolors will be exhibited. His art can be viewed online at ciscoartskona.com.
Cisco moved to the Big Island in 1980 to continue his architectural career and has been painting in watercolors since. His art has attracted statewide acclaim and his work can be found in many island homes. Born and raised in Honolulu, he was inspired by the works of Hawaii artists Howard Hitchcock, Lloyd Sexton, Charles S. Marek and Peter Hayward. While earning his master’s degree in architecture, Cisco minored in drawing and painting.
Comedy tour raises funds for Philippines
Comedian Augie T recently attended the Kona Filipino Fiesta where he donated $40,000 on behalf of the Hawaii Construction Alliance and supporting sponsors. The money was raised from his “Laugh for Relief” statewide comedy tour. Mayor Billy Kenoi was in attendance to acknowledge that Hawaii County will match the funds raised.
The money from the statewide tour will go to the COVO Foundation for a reconstruction project in Ormoc City, Philippines, a sister city of Hawaii County. In 2012, a delegation from Hawaii Island led by Kenoi visited Ormoc and neighboring towns in the region, which were all devastated by Typhoon Haiyan.
